Deployment Life

Well 2 months are down and there are 5 to go! Five months seem like such a long time when you are waiting for your husband to come home. I try to stay busy. As long as I have plans and work and Steve I do pretty good. It's the day's like today that are hard. I have the day off from work, no plans, and I'm at home missing Allen. I have picked up the house and I have finished laundry, but it's still not enough to keep my mind off of missing Allen. I only get to talk to Allen once or twice a week. Saturday we got to skype for the first time since he has been gone. It was so nice to see his face. Being a military wife is one of the hardest things that I will ever do in life. When Allen joined the military so did I. We are in this together; for better for worse.

Beach Weather

Today was a perfect day for the beach but NO I had to work. Blah........I need to layout more so that I can be super tan (for Free) at my own wedding. =)

I hope the week goes by fast because Allen will be home soon! Yeah!! To keep me busy I have Steve, Work, Ramen Wednesday, Puppy School Graduation on Friday, and a Craft Fair on Saturday!!! Steve and work take up most of my time! Haha, well Mainly Steve. I love my puppy he just gets into so much trouble. But today he was so good!! I think me threatening him to take him to the pound worked!

I applied for a CE job at Hickam on Friday. The job closes on the 29th (Thursday). I really hope this works out. The money I will be making will seriously help us with bills and the wedding!! Yes I have to go back to working full time but the busy schedule will help Allen's 6 months deployment go by so fast!! The job is looking good for me so far!! Yea!!!

I have most of our wedding stuff ready to go. The major things I have to finish are: Flowers, Programs, Gifts, and the small things I have to do back in AR!!! I'm getting so excited!! Yea!!

It's been a while since I have posted, but I have been rather busy in my paradise. Now that we have moved on base I have so much to do. Not to mention that I am finishing the planning of my wedding, working at Old Navy, key spouse, and we have a puppy named Steve.

Steve is a hound/pit/lab mix. He is about 4 months. He is so cute but keeps me very busy!!! It's like having a 1year old.  He is all black with a white chest and white front paws. He has a lot of attitude! I think it's b/c he is part pit. But he looks you in his eyes and it's just so cute!!!

Time Flies when you're having fun

Wow! This week has gone by so fast. I have been so busy that I haven't even had time to hand  make Allen's Valentine. I better get on that!! I had an idea for his valentine but I can't find all of my art supplies so I may have to rethink it. Tomorrow I am picking up his gift and I will take it to base after his award lunch that he must attend. We are celebrating Valentines Day all weekend. I wanted to give him his gift at work to embarrass him but I am thinking I will just decorate our bedroom and leave his surprise in there. We have a party to attend and we get to dress very nice so I am going to wear my dress that I wore at my BFF's wedding in December. Allen has grown out of his suit so we need to come up with a plan for him, hahaha!!! Saturday we have a cruise/dinner for our special V-Day event and then that night we will attend a friends going away party. Sunday after dinner we get to babysit a very small baby for a couple who will be celebrating their Valentine's Day. I can't wait!!!

Today Allen and I set up our power of attorney and our Will. It was pretty easy because right now neither of us have anything of importance, money, or children. LOL! But I now have the right to donate Allen's body to science. I keep telling him I will do that because they would find so many crazy things inside him. I think I have began to scare him that I will do it. LOL! I won't do that but I will donate his organs. I hope everyone is an organ donor because it can help save so many people. I am one for sure!!! Allen told me he has thought about cremation. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Do we have the right to burn our bodies? What does everyone think about this? He said he really just wants to be buried the cheapest way. I told him I have no problem digging a hole next to the dog and planting a bush on top of him!! LOL! He knows I'm only kidding!!! Making a will turned out kind of fun, on Allen's expense!!

I also applied for the University of Arkansas Master's program today!! I applied for the Operations Management program. We will see if I get in without having to take the GRD. I sure hope not!! I'll keep you all posted on any news!

I spoke too soon

For all of you who already hate me because of my weather comments, here is one more for you! It's 82 degrees and sunny!!!

Friday I went to Allen's Warrior Friday party at work. It was Mardi Gras themed. Allen's CE group was in charge of the event and because I was the only wife there I got stuck helping. While speaking to Col. Thomas I pretty much called him out, but I didn't even know it. Later Allen informed me that during our conversation about "hopefully" my future job in the CE department that Col. Thomas asked me if I knew what the position was. I kindly said no, do u? I didn't mean it like that!!! LOL.  I meant to say, can you tell me about it? Not do you know what your people do?  Luckily the Col. did not take it that way and laughed and said yes I know a little about the job. Allen told me about this later and said that he wished he could have said that to the Col. So I guess as an AF wife I need to learn to think before I speak. I'm sure I have heard that from my parents a time or two! Later that night Allen and I ate dinner with an Officer friend Andrea. She took us to the Dixie Grill. It reminded me of home!!! It may have been the southern comfort food or it could have been that it's the first place we have ate at where it is predominately white people.

Saturday Allen had a golf match with some people that he worked with so I decided to have a picnic at the beach (by myself). I packed a little lunch and my beach bag and then walked about 3 blocks to the beach. I used a dry spray tanning lotion (yes it has some SPF in it) but I failed to rub it in after I sprayed it so I have a funny line down my left leg and some spotted burns on my shoulders. But I'm tan!! The water is cold right now so I didn't get in it much. I just got in to cool off (about waist deep). I really want to learn to paddle board. It looks really neat! Later I went to base to do some grocery shopping for the week and then made dinner for Allen and I. He got home much later than expected and I was a little mad b/c he did not call but when he told me that he had to drop off several drunk men (b/c he would not let them drive home from the course) I understood why he was late.

Sunday we had an awesome super bowl party at a friends house on base. We had so much yummy food!!! We even played football bingo (it's a game that Allen created). It was a huge hit.

I have been thinking about applying for my masters degree at the U of A. I would start in March. I'm delaying the process because I might have to take the GRA. I'm a terrible test taker so I am freaking out. First I have to apply and then find out if my Grades where high enough. I hope they take into account that I was an Engineer; I just freeze on test.

This week Allen has a doctor appointment to see about surgery on his hernia (sp?). We also have a meeting on Thursday to make our will and to have me as Power of Attorney in case anything happens to Allen (God forbid).  I plan to make Allen's Valentine as well but I can't find all of my crafts. I had a really cute idea but we will see if it works out. Stay tuned for pictures!!!

Hello Bloggers!

WOW - We have already completed one month out of the year 2010! Is it just me or does time keep moving faster and faster. As a child I had so many events to look forward to: Turning 16, Turning 18, High School Graduation, College, Turning 21, and College Graduation. Just to name a few!!! Now that I have completed each of these mile stones in my life, I sit back and think okay what's next? There are no age mile stones that any girl looks forward to after the age of 21, I have completed college, and have recently got married. So I ask my self what is next (besides children -which is not happening right now)?

I have decided to dedicate the year 2010 to finding out who I am and what I want to do with the rest of my life. I have a degree in Civil Engineering and I have no idea what I want to do with it. I've been told several times that I should be a teacher. In High School I thought I would end up being a teacher and a coach at a small school and live my life in Arkansas. I now have a Civil Engineering degree, no job, and I live in Hawaii with my wonderful husband. Who would have ever imagined that I would live in Hawaii? Not me, that is for sure. =) It may seem like paradise but it's a hard life; the economy is terrible here, there are so many homeless people (and they are everywhere), the school system is failing, and the unemployment rate is above 12%, and it's so darn expensive. On the upside to this paradise, there is the ocean and all the activities that come with it!

If I had a job, Allen and I could afford to do more of the things we want. We have our regular bills, my student loan bills, and the bills that I have received from my lovely mother. Plus we are paying for a $10,000 wedding that we are planning to have in June on our one year anniversary. Allen and I got married on June 12, 2009 at a chapel on the Air Force base in Maxwell, AL. We had a quick wedding to get me on his orders to Hawaii. This officially started my duties as a wife to the military.

There are several things I want to accomplish this year:
  1. Lose 15 lbs by June and 20lbs by the end of the year.
    1. So far I have lost 3lbs
      1. Continue to workout 3-4 times a weeks
  2. Figure out what career I want.
    1. Get a job to pay the bills.
    2. Get a job that I enjoy.
  3. Find a church for Allen and I
    1. This is harder than you may think
      1. Allen is Catholic
      2. I am Baptist
      3. There is not much to choose from here in HI
  4. Wedding
    1. Finish Planning the wedding
    2. Find a way to pay for the plane tickets back to Arkansas
    3. Find a way to pay for the wedding
    4. Have the wedding!!
  5.  Find an activity that will keep me busy while Allen is deployed from August to January.
This is my life! Welcome to the journey as I find myself and discover where the Apple falls.
